「全港初中生機械人大賽」(Mini Robocon HK)由香港科技園公司(HKSTP)主辦、香港工程師學會(HKIE)協辦，並得到工程及科技學會香港分會(IET Hong Kong)支持擔任協作機構，滙集來自全港中學對機械工程及資訊科技有熱誠的初中生，以學校或自行組隊為單位組成隊伍，競逐冠軍殊榮。

Mini Robocon 於2018年首次舉行，比賽啟發並參照於「全港大專生機械人大賽」(Robocon Hong Kong Contest)，目的是希望令機械工程及資訊科技的相關教育、知識、技術和應用普及化，而且得以推廣到中學的層面上，從而可以響應STEM 教育的趨勢。「全港初中生機械人大賽」根據亞太廣播聯盟機械人大賽(Asian-Pacific Broadcasting Union)設計每年比賽的任務和遊戲規則，並鼓勵大專學生藉此平台向年輕一代分享參賽心得。

Mini Robocon Hong Kong is organised by Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), co-organised by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), and collaborated by The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

Mini Robocon Hong Kong was first introduced in 2018, as an extension of Robocon Hong Kong (the annual robotics competition for tertiary education institution students). Mini Robocon is targeted at junior secondary school students, to promote robotics, practical skills, and teamwork to our younger talents. With the enhancement of STEM in the current secondary school education, we believe that Mini Robocon can inspire junior students and arouse their interests in engineering, mechanics, computer science, and robotics. Every year, the Mini Robocon game rules will be designed by taking key elements and tasks based on past Asian-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Robocon themes, and has been a platform that encourages university students to empower and share their own Robocon experiences with the younger generation.
